ABOUT THE

RAGDOLL

A properly bred Ragdoll cat is a large cat breed with a docile temperament and affectionate personality, making them wonderful family pet cats. Ragdolls are a slow-maturing cat breed and reach maturity between 3 to 4 years. During those first 3 to 4 years, they will continue to grow in size and condition, and their point colors will continue to deepen as they age. They tend to display puppy-like behaviors as they can be quite playful and energetic, while simultaneously preferring companionship in following their humans around the house, room to room, even if it is just to take a nap in the same room as their human owner. A unique feature of Ragdolls is that they can live in harmony with dogs, and bond with a dog, and often many do in dog-friendly households, so long as proper socialization is done. They can be great companions for children so long as the child is well-mannered and taught proper handling and interaction with the Ragdoll cat.

OUR GOAL & VISION

Procreation is fundamental to the very existence and survival of any species. Our number one goal is to preserve the Ragdoll breed, maintain the Ragdoll standards, and better the Ragdoll cat. This means that we breed for temperament, health and desirable traits and characteristics to ensure that each one of our kittens will grow up and be great representatives of the Ragdoll breed.

"They are known to run to greet you at the door, follow you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you, and generally choose to be where you are. Many Ragdolls have been taught to come when called and play fetch."

THE INTERNATIONAL CAT ASSOCIATION

"The Ragdoll is a relaxed, happy cat and, like a child's ragdoll, many of these cats will go limp in your arms and flop like a stuffed doll when cuddled. Generally, the Ragdoll cat is a loving, quiet cat with a very laidback disposition. If you are looking for a very active cat or a talkative cat, a Ragdoll probably is not the breed for you."

FEATURES & TYPES

Ragdolls come in a variety of colors, patterns and coats. There are three ways we describe a particular Ragdoll: (1) Traditional Ragdoll, (2) Nontraditional Ragdoll, and (3) Standard Ragdoll. Others might group Ragdolls wholly into Traditionals and Nontraditionals, but we group to our preference.

Traditional Ragdolls are Ragdolls bred within the TICA / CFA standard and that have a pedigree with at least a 90% ancestral history that can be traced back to the original foundation cats that started the Ragdoll breed. Not every Ragdoll is a Traditional Ragdoll, and in-fact, some breeders specialize in working with Traditional lines. These Ragdolls tend to be more slower maturing and take time to blossom into a gorgeous Ragdoll cat. Traditional Ragdolls have blue eyes.
Nontraditional Ragdolls are Ragdolls that are not written in the registry standards of TICA or CFA and are generally only registered through the more popular TICA registry as CFA does not recognize Nontraditional Ragdolls or permit registration of them. Neither TICA or CFA allow Nontraditional Ragdolls to be shown in the Ragdoll class at cat shows. However Nontraditional Ragdolls may be shown in the experimental breed class in TICA. Examples of Nontraditional Ragdolls are Ragdolls that are mink, sepia, solid, or BEW, or in today's market, produced to be of a variety of colors that make them look like your average domestic longhair cat. Nontraditional Ragdolls may have aqua, green or gold eyes.
The third category is what we call Standard Ragdoll. These Ragdolls are bred within established registry standards, and may include Traditionals as well as properly bred Ragdolls that meet the standard but may not have the 90% ancestral history connection to the foundation cats. Through the years, outcrosses were introduced into the Ragdoll breed to bring new colors (such as Red and Cream, and overlays such as Lynx, Tortie, and Torbie) which have all been approved and adopted by registry organizations. Standard Ragdolls have blue eyes.

We breed and focus on Standard Ragdolls - we breed within the established registry standards. It is important to note that our breeding program does not produce or work with Nontraditional Ragdolls in mink, sepia, solid or BEW. The Ragdoll is a Blue-Eyed Pointed Cat.
